Icannotimagineanythingmoreexhilaratingthantostandherethisevening–alsoonbehalfofmycolleaguesW.E.MoernerandEricBetzig–thankingtheSwedishAcademyandtheNobelFoundationforthehonorthathasbeenbestoweduponus.Wearesogratefultoallwhohavesupportedusonourpathand–aboveall–wefeelvery,veryhumbled.  Likealllaureates,eachofusthreehashisownroadtothismagnificenthall.Ourpersonalstorieshavebeenquitedifferent.  Yet–wehavemuchincommon:passionforwhatwedo,andfascinationwiththingsthatcannotbedone,or–let’ssay–thingsthatcannotbedone...supposedly.
