youngpeople.Anotherdiscomfortofourageisthatweareexperiencinginterpersonalalienation.Withthedevelopmentofcommunicationtechnology,peopleinfactbecomealienatedwithfriendsandrelativessincetheycouldbesoeasilyaccessedviaphoneoremail.Toooftenwefeelthatfewofourfriendsaretruefriends,withoutthetraditionalfeelingofmutualaffectionwhichcouldonlybecreatedbylongtimeapart.Butseveraldecadesago,peopletreasuredtheirfriendsandmaintainedrelativelycloseinterpersonalrelations,whichismuchmoreenjoyablethantheestrangementsweareexperiencing.Thelastfactorthathasmadeouragesouncomfortableistheabusiveuseoftechnology.Althoughitbringsmuchconvenience,itessentiallychangeshuman–wearenolongerthemasteroftools,butinsteadtheslavesofdevices.Werushtometrostationinordertocatchanearlytrain,sitinfrontofradioactivecomputersalldaylonginordertogetourworkdone,andstayinair-conditionedroomsallsummerwithoutexperiencingthenaturalchangesoutsidethickcementwalls.7 Severaldecadesago,peoplecouldstillliveclosertonatureandmakerationaluseofmoderntechnology,whichtomeistheessenceofhumanlivingexperience.However,thecomparisonbetweendifferenttimesisitselfridiculous.Thecriteriacouldnotbeeasilydetermined,andopinionsarehighlypersonal.Anyway,wehavealongerlifespan,moreadvancedmedicalfacilities,andeasiertrafficthanourgrandparentwhentheywerechildren,andweshouldtreasurethepresentexperience.Imaginationofthepastmightonlybenostalgia–ifIaskmygrandparentsthesamequestion,theymightaswellsaythatourlifeismuchbetterthanthepastgenerations.Whoknows?Aslongastheworldisstillpeaceful,lifeatanytimewouldnotbecometoodifficulttohandle.7
